Welcome to Southern Pet Services

We want owners and dogs to have fun, through fun training we help to build the confidence of many dogs, in turn helping them with behaviour issues they may have. Our classes are focused on being as near to real life as we feel possible, we feel its important to give owners the knowledge and confidence to be able to train and develop their dogs into confident dogs. Although we discuss the basics of training (sit/down/recall etc) our classes are much more than that. We want you to understand your dog, and how to get the most out of them individually. We aim to teach you how to motivate your dog, to recognise what motivates them, as well as to discuss any potential issues in the future, and how to work on these now. For example if we see a puppy that is slightly hand shy, we will discuss how to prevent this from esculating into a behaviour issue, and how to help them build their confidence. We are also on hand to help with all behaviour issues you're having, and happily discuss this with you, and what you're able to do at home or out and about to help your dog. With dogs that are worried about others, we are able to offer socialsiation sessions to help them with this.

As Full members of the IMDT (Institute of Modern Dog Trainers), IMDTB (The Institute of Modern Dog Trainers and Behaviourists), mentors for the Vistoria Stilwell Academy and members of The Pet Professional Guild we are able to offer a wide range of training services, from basic training needs through to behaviour consultations.

We are very passionate about our work,  continuosly attend new courses, and keep up to date with the latest scientific research to ensure we offer the best possible service to our customers. We like to look at the bigger picture when it comes to the dogs bahaviour in terms of what impact everything around the dog has on their behaviour as well as dealing with the actual behaviour, and have studied a number of training methods (reward based, force free) that allow us to look at each dog individually and work out what works best for them.
